Divine Evil?

[Posted on: 03 February 2025 by Richard Worsley]

Divine Evil?

In this video, Richard introduces a short article of his own, which addresses one of the most common objections to faith, namely that of why God allows suffering. Whilst we can provide some answers to questions about such things, we cannot always fully understand everything. God’s challenge to us, as it was to Job, has got to be one of “will you trust Me?”. There is plenty of evidence for the goodness of God and we need to trust in Him, even when the going is difficult and the way is not clear.

But God …

[Posted on: 30 January 2025 by Richard Worsley]

But God …

In the associated article, Richard cites a number of New Testaments references that use the phrase “but God…” and which go on to demonstrate that God is able to do the impossible. Based on the premise that God is indeed able to do the impossible, we are faced with a major question, namely that of: “Is God able to change the hearts of people in the West?”. This question comes with a great challenge. We are living today in a culture that is increasingly secularised and anti-God, and yet in the various areas of apologetics (e.g. modern miracles, fulfilled prophecy and creation science) we are now in possession of a vast amount of evidence that was not avaiable even 40 years ago.

Modern Catechism

In this video, Richard discusses the value of having a catechism for today to give us some structure to what we believe. He refers to an article of his own, in which he has attempted to present the matter as a series of questions and answers, making reference to two well known modern evangelical statements of faith.

Eschatology

Eschatology – the doctrine of the end times

In this video, Richard talks about the variety of intrepretations that exist on this subject, particularly in relation to the Book of Revelation. It is a complex subject from which we cannot draw clear cut conclusions; an open mind is the best approach, as we need to remain open to what God is saying and doing.

Last Days – More Issues

In this video, Richard introduces a short article of his own, in which he lists some of the major issues facing the world today, along with some thoughts on how we as the Church should be responding.

The Second Coming

The Second Coming – what Jesus has to say

In this video, Richard introduces an article of his own in which he has listed various references made by Jesus to the Second Coming. Jesus mentions this subject a great deal in the four Gospels, which can only mean that He attached a lot of importance to it. With modern trends such as increasing prosperity, moral decline and spiritual apathy, the most important thing about the Second Coming is that we are ready. This is especially true for us in the prosperous West, more so than for others in the world, particulary in places where the Church is persecuted.

New Testament Christianity (2)

Fulfilled Prophecy

Fulfilled Prophecy

In this video, Richard looks at and compares the two main approaches that have been made to the intrepretation of the Book of Revelation. Firstly there is the historicist perspective that sees the prophectic fulfilment in events that have already occurred, and this was largely adopted from the time of the Reformation. Secondly there is the futurist perspective that sees the prophecies as relating to the final years of the end times, and this is the more widely adopted approach today. Richard maintains an open mind to the two ideas and also makes reference to the possibility of dual fulfilment.

Jesus on Judgement

[Posted on: 04 December 2024 by Richard Worsley]

Jesus on Judgement

In this video, Richard introduces an article in which he has listed the various references made to judgement by Jesus in the four Gospels. The point is emphasised that speaking about judgement does not go against the idea of God’s love. Rather, very much to the contrary, it is because of God’s great love for all, that it is not His will that anyone should face the eternal judgement that awaits those who reject Him to the end. We need to be speaking out that warning.
