Landscapes - Evidence for a Worldwide Flood

In this video and a set of PowerPoint slides, Richard discusses evidence from the general topography of the world in support of the idea of a recent global worldwide flood. The two main phases of the Flood resulted in certain observed features as follows:

  • The inundation stage, when the waters initially flooded the earth, would have resulted in the deposition of sedimentary rock layers, including the formation of fossils.
  • The recessional stage, when the waters receded from land towards the ocean beds, would have resulted in the formation of the likes of valleys and canyons.

Psalm 2 and our Government

Psalm 2 and our Government

This is another video and article which Richard has based upon the theme of Psalm 2.

He starts by mentioning the various lines of evidence that lead us increasingly to see that the Bible is a true revelation of God, including the matters of soft tissues in fossils, the complexity of DNA plus that of modern mircales. He then goes on to say that this should act as a challenge to the Government of our nation to seriously consider these things, and to return to the Christian heritage that once was ours.

Calling and the Impact of Eternity

Calling and the Impact of Eternity

In this video and article, Richard looks at questions about calling, and discusses the following two aspects of the subject:

  1. How does eternity affect our view on our calling? Some callings (e.g. that of a parent) have eternal consequences, whereas others (e.g. a job) may only be temporal.
  2. Some callings may be consequence of factors that have been pre-assigned to us and are beyond our choosing (e.g. our parents or gender). We need to learn to be content with those things that we cannot change.

The Neuron and Evolution

The Neuron and Evolution

In thios video, Richard introduces an article about the neuron. This is the basic nerve cell used to store and process information in the brain, is by far one of the most complex cells in the body. The brain contains roughly 100 billion of these, linked together in a highly complex network, and this has actually been decribed as the most complex machine found in the known universe.

This, like many other things in biological systems, displays the attributes of irreducible complexity, namely that design had to be put in place before it could possibly come into being, thus ruling out the possibility of it being brought about by chance. This is yet another example of things that can only point us to God as creator and designer.

The Practicalities of Holiness

The Practicalities of Holiness

In this video and article, Richard talks about the subject of holiness. There are two aspects of this, namely:

  • Imputed holiness, which we have as part of our birthright.
  • Imparted holiness, which is the process by which God's laws are written on our hearts.

In previous revivals and moves of the Spirit, much emphasis was placed on holiness, but in today's world with all its temptation, maintaining holiness can be a challenge. Richard goes on to discuss some of the practical things that can help us in this respect.

Fossils – Evidence for a Worldwide Flood

Fossils - Evidence for a Worldwide Flood

In this video, Richard introduces a long and somewhat technical article about Lagerstätten despoits, which refers to places where fossils have been created with a high quality of preservation, often in large concentration within the given location. Most of these deposits are in sedimentary rocks, which would have been created by water activity. There is also plenty of evidence to suggest that these processes would have occurred very rapidly, thus defending the case for a worldwide floog.

Two Apostasies?

Two Apostasies?

In this video and article, Richard discusses the idea of two apostasies. In the New Testament, much was said about a future falling away. As we look at history, we can see this effectively as two processes:

  • A religious falling away, which ultimately culminated in the Reformation
  • A secular falling away in the post-Reformation years, which has come about with the rise in materialism and the resulting rejection of God.

In order to survive this second apostasy, we are encouraged to practice the art of holiness.

Epigenetics

Epigenetics

In this article, Richard introduces an article on the subject of epigenetics. This is to do with the evidence we now have, that the behaviour of the genetic code can be affected by external control mechanisms, and that some of these can be influenced by the surrounding environment. If this is the case, then it is possible that adaptation to a given environment can be passed from one generation to another in this way, which means that such things do not necessarily need to be explained entirely in terms of mutuations. We now have evidence that there is in fact a built-in design mechanism that is far more complex than previously realised, pointing all the more to an intelligent designer and creator.

Causes of Death - Worldwide

Causes of Death - Worldwide

In this video, Richard looks at an article from the Christian press, which is suggesting that in 2023, the number of abortions exceeded that of any other cause of death worldwide. The figures check out well, being comparable with those from the World Health Organisation. This must surely cause us to think seriously, particularly as our society today considers itself to be morally superior to the way it was in the past. Having said this however, we all need to take heed that we do not become self-righteous and judgemental.

Soft Tissue in Fossils (2)

This follows on a similar theme to the previous post Soft Tissue in Fossils (1). The 'Watch (1)' link is to the YouTube video in which Richard introduces the subject. The 'Watch (2)' link is to another video on the subject, about 10 minutes duration and well worth watching.
