Leviticus 23:1-3 - The Millenium?

In this video and article, Richard first refers to Levitcus 23, in which the Sabbath is presented as a feast. In the Ten Commandments it is portrayed as a rememberance of the fact that God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. Scripture also tells us that with God, a day is as a thousand years (Ps 90:4, 2 Pet 3:8), and in the early church and with the Reformers, this was often taken as representing God's plan for 6000 years of human history followed by a millenial reign of Christ on earth. Also there is Hosea 6:2, which could be interpreted as 2000 years of Jewish repression followed by 1000 years of restoration. Whilst these things are open to interpretation and we cannot exactly predict the time of the Second Coming, it should at least give us the urgency that we are living in the last days.

Grand Canyon and a Worldwide Flood

In this video, Richard introduces a set of two articles, which respond to a previous publication that brought into question the validity of Flood geology. The articles respond by defending geological evidence for a worldwide flood, as seen in Grand Canyon and other places on the earth. Richard then goes on to summarise some of the main lines of evidence, defending the idea of a worldwide flood, namely:

  1. The spread of similar rock layers across continents.
  2. The way that large numbers of animals are buried/fossilised together, including the presence of land and sea creatures in the same place.
  3. The lack of erosing between rock layers. More erosion would be expected if there were millions of years between the desposition of the various layers.
  4. The fact that multiple rock layers bend together, which could have only occurred if they were wet together.

Is Evolution Scientific?

Is Evolution Scientific?

In this video, Richard refers to an article which encourages us as Christians not to be afraid of the accusations brought against us by evolutionists. Take the following three things:

  • Circular thinking - i.e. settling for a desired conclusion before going through the reasoning process.
  • Imaginational storytelling.
  • Appeal to mystical causes.

Whilst evolutionists may accuse creationists of these particular things, they can actually be attributed to evolutionary thinking, which is not based on the clear evidence that we are commonly given to believe exists.

Leviticus 23:17 - The Church

Leviticus 23:17 - The Church

Leviticus 23:17 is the only reference in the Old Testament to an offering that was to be made with leaven, and forms part of the instructions for the Feast of Pentecost. In the Bible, leaven is normally used as a picture of sin. Pentecost is a picture of the Church, as it was on this particular feast that the early Church was born. This serves as a reminder that whilst God has set us free from sin through the work of salvation, the Church is nevertheless made up of redeemed sinners, and as such, remains imperfect with people still hurting.

Joseph - A Type of Jesus

In this video and article, Richard talks about the story of Joseph in the Book of Genesis, drawing various parallels with the life and person of Jesus. This demonstrates how the story of Joseph is prophetic in nature, defending the Bible as an accurate revelation from God.

Genesis Chapter 2

In this video and article, Richard talks about Genesis chapter 2, particularly with respect to the creation of Eve from Adam, and asks the question as to why this happened after the main sequence of creation events. In providing an answer, a comparison is made between the marriage relationship and the relationship between Christ and the Church.

Israel and Prophecy

In this video and article, Richard discusses the way in which the restoration of the nation of Israel in the last days is prophesied in both the Old and New Testaments. He talks about how the fulfilment is to be seen before our very eyes, with the restoration of the nation in 1948 and the return of Jerusalem to Jewish control in 1967. As with other things, this presents us with clear evidence that the Bible is an accurate revelation of God.

Romans 1:20

In this video and article, Richard talks about the challenge of Romans 1 verse 20, which says that we are without excuse in the light of evidence for creation in the things that are seen. Whilst this includes the evidence for intelligent design, there is also the matter of causes. We know intuitively that every effect must have a cause. If this is the case, then all effects and causes must be traceble back to an ultimate cause, and the latter has got to be something eternal (i.e. outside the framework of time and space as we know it). Furthermore, such a cause has got to to be personal (i.e. with personality) in order to want to create.

Soft tissue means the fossils are recent

Soft tissue means the fossils are recent

In this video, Richard refers to an article which addresses agruments that have been put forward to try and refute the idea that soft tissues in fossils are recent. It comes to the conclusion that whilst some of the arguments may possibly be able to extend the lifespan of soft tissues by a few extra thousands of years, none of them are workable in terms of the millions of years required to support evolutionary thinking. In the absence of any arguments able to support the long age theory, we are left with one argument, namely that the fossils are only thousands of years old, which is can well be explained in terms of a recent worldwide flood.
