Adaptation – a Product of Design

In this video, Richard introduces a set of three articles by Robert Carter which discuss the way in which living organisms were designed to be able to adapt to their environment. Whilst Darwin was right in observing that the adaptation of species is a reality, the mechanism of genetics was not understood during his time. We now understand that DNA and the genetic code are incredibly complex, and that the ability to adapt can be programmed into that code. This amazing feat of engineering has got to be the work of intelligent design rather than a random process of evolution.

Fulfilled Prophecy

Fulfilled Prophecy

In this video, Richard looks at and compares the two main approaches that have been made to the intrepretation of the Book of Revelation. Firstly there is the historicist perspective that sees the prophectic fulfilment in events that have already occurred, and this was largely adopted from the time of the Reformation. Secondly there is the futurist perspective that sees the prophecies as relating to the final years of the end times, and this is the more widely adopted approach today. Richard maintains an open mind to the two ideas and also makes reference to the possibility of dual fulfilment.

Genetic Entropy

Genetic Entropy – Mendel’s Accountant

The term ‘genetic entropy’ refers to the way that mutations cause degeneration rather than enhancement of the genetic code. In this video, Richard discusses the implications of major work in this field carried out by John Sandford and his associates, with the development of “Mendel’s Accountant”, an analytical computer program. We know that designed/manufactured things decay over a period of time, and the genetic code is no exception, as mistakes due to mutations are introduced in every generation. As such, the genetic code would simply not survive the evolutionary timescale and yet we continue to be indoctrinated with evolutionary thinking.

Young DNA

Young DNA

In this video, Richard introduces an article about genetics and DNA. What is coming to light is the fact that many of the scientific discoveries being made in this area, actually fit far better into the model of a 6000 year old world history rather than that of a long age.

The Best Arguments Against a Young Earth

[Posted on: 05 December 2024]

The best arguments against a young earth

In this video, Richard introduces an article in which he makes a response to the book ‘The Grand Canyon – Monument to an Ancient Earth’. Although this book defends the old earth position, Richard nevertheless commends the authors for their willingness to engage with the thinking of young earth creationists, something which is sadly lacking in today’s academic circles. The associated article lists a number of questions raised by the book along with references to various creationist responses that have been made.

Jesus on Judgement

Jesus on Judgement

In this video, Richard introduces an article in which he has listed the various references made to judgement by Jesus in the four Gospels. The point is emphasised that speaking about judgement does not go against the idea of God’s love. Rather, very much to the contrary, it is because of God’s great love for all, that it is not His will that anyone should face the eternal judgement that awaits those who reject Him to the end. We need to be speaking out that warning.

Junk DNA

Junk DNA

Before the human DNA code started to be mapped out in detail in the early 2000s, it was generally believed that a substantial part of our genetic code constituted ‘junk DNA’, which fitted the evolutionary model well, as it could be looked upon as an evolutionary leftover. This ties into the fact that only a relatively small part of the genetic code is concerned with protein manufacture, which was originally seen as the primary function of DNA. Research over the last 20+ years has revealed however, that DNA does a lot more than just manufacturing proteins, and that its function is a great deal more complex than was originally believed, thus adding great weight to the argument in favour of intelligent design, as opposed to everything happening by chance.

Animal Suffering

Animal Suffering

In this video, Richard looks at the question of how creation has suffered as a result of the entry of sin into the world, but then looks to the hope that creation will itself be redeemed at the very end. He goes on however to say on a more sobering note, that even though creation may be redeemed, there will be no redemption for those people who have rejected God’s way of salvation, thus giving us an ever increasing urgency to evangelise.

Jesus and the Old Testament

Jesus and the Old Testament

In this video, Richard introduces an article which lists key references to the Old Testament made by Jesus in Matthew’s Gospel. Amongst other things, He spoke of the stories of creation and the flood as if they were real history. If Jesus is the Son of God and gave such authority to the Old Testament, then we should treat it likewise.

Review of Darwin Devolves

Review of Behe’s book Darwin Devolves

In this video, Richard introduces us to a review of the book “Darvin Devolves” by Prof. Michael Behe. Like his earlier book “Darwin’s Black Box”, this takes up the theme that biological systems are incredibly complex, and that such complexity could not have possibly been generated by random mutations alone.
