A Genetic Orchard or a Genetic Tree?

A Genetic Orchard or a Genetic Tree?

In this video, Richard compares the concept of a “genetic orchard” with that of a “genetic tree”. The idea of a single tree fits in with evolutionary theory, according to which every living thing is descended from the original generation of a single biological cell. On the other hand, the idea of an orchard of trees, fits more with the Biblical teaching that everything was created “according to its kind”. The branches of each tree represent adaptation and diversification into different species within a single created kind. Richard expresses his confidence that as more is discovered within the coming years, evidence will grow against the commonality that would be expected from the single tree model, thus adding support to the Biblical account of creation.

Directed Genetic Change

Directed Genetic Change

This video and article talk about the concept of “directed genetic change”. This concerns the way in which purposeful changes can be made to DNA in order to provide adaptation to environmental conditions. It is in complete contrast to the idea of random mutations which forms the basis of evolutionary theory. As more is discovered, evidence for directed genetic change is growing, which can only point us all the more to intelligent design and to God as Creator.

Do we need a modern liturgy?

Do we need a modern liturgy?

In this video, Richard freeky admits that he is not advocating a return to liturgical forms of worship. Having said that however, he points out that one of the values of liturgy is that it has reminded people of the fundamentals of what we believe as Christians. Whatever our style of worship, it is of paramount importance that in our lives, we are totally clear about what we believe.

Continental Erosion – Evidence for the Flood

Continental Erosion – Evidence for the Flood

In this video, Richard refers to an article by Michael Oard, which looks at evidence for the massive movement of sediment that would have occurred during the runoff in the second half of the Flood. Some points to note:

  • Surface Coal – A massive amount of pressure above is required to cause coal to form, so where we see surface coal, rock layers above must have moved in a big way.
  • Rock pillars – These cannot be millions of years old, as they would have completely eroded away within that timeframe. Also there must have been material around them which has been removed to leave the existing formations.
  • Dome formations (see the post Harlech Dome), where large amounts of material at the top of the dome have obviously been removed.

In the second half of the Flood, when the waters receded into the ocean basins, large amounts of sediment would have been moved from land into the continental shelves around the edges of the oceans.

Summary of Evidence for a Worldwide Flood

[Posted on: 29 June 2025]

Summary of Evidence for a Worldwide Flood

In this video, Richard refers to an article by Dr. Terry Mortenson which summarises evidence for a recent worldwide flood, rather than a long earth history. The evidence can be divided into two broad areas:

  1. Fossils – Fossilisation can only be the result of rapid burial. Added to this, we have the evidence of soft tissue which cannot last more than a few thousand years, and also the fact that we see fossils crossing the boundaries between rock layers that are supposedly millions of years apart in age.
  2. Rock Layers – The absence of erosion between layers of sedimentary rock, and also the fact that the layers bend smoothly without cracks, both point to the flood as the most likely cause for their formation. Also the presence of similar layer patterns across continents points to a worldwide flood rather than a localised one.

Harlech Dome – Evidence for a Flood

Harlech Dome – Evidence for a Flood

In this video and the associated PowerPoint slides, Richard talks about the Harlech Dome, a geological feature found in north Wales. Similar features exist in other hill ranges such as the North & South Downs in southern England. Some of the diagrams in the slides will give you an appreciation of what is being talked about. Basically, the orientation of the rock layers in the existing mountain/hill ranges strongly suggest that these form the base of a dome that was once there, but much of which has now disappeared. The question arises as to how this might have happened. It all fits in well with the model of a worldwide flood. The sedimentary rock layers that we see today would have been laid down in the first half of the Flood, with the top of the dome being washed away in the second half as the flood waters receded into the oceans.

The BBC and the Challenge of Psalm 2

The BBC and the Challenge of Psalm 2

In this video and article, Richard continues with the challenge of Psalm 2, now taking up the matter of the BBC, having preached on a number of occasions outside the BBC Headquarters in London. If the BBC prides itself in upholding truth and professionalism, then the challenge is that it should take a serious look at the evidence for the following, in all cases backed up by research and work on the part of experts:

  • Modern miracles.
  • Intelligen design.
  • Genetic entropy.
  • Soft tissues in Fossils, especially dionsaurs.

Landscapes – Evidence for a Worldwide Flood

Landscapes – Evidence for a Worldwide Flood

In this video and a set of PowerPoint slides, Richard discusses evidence from the general topography of the world in support of the idea of a recent global worldwide flood. The two main phases of the Flood resulted in certain observed features as follows:

  • The inundation stage, when the waters initially flooded the earth, would have resulted in the deposition of sedimentary rock layers, including the formation of fossils.
  • The recessional stage, when the waters receded from land towards the ocean beds, would have resulted in the formation of the likes of valleys and canyons.

Psalm 2 and our Government

Psalm 2 and our Government

This is another video and article which Richard has based upon the theme of Psalm 2.

He starts by mentioning the various lines of evidence that lead us increasingly to see that the Bible is a true revelation of God, including the matters of soft tissues in fossils, the complexity of DNA plus that of modern mircales. He then goes on to say that this should act as a challenge to the Government of our nation to seriously consider these things, and to return to the Christian heritage that once was ours.

Calling and the Impact of Eternity

Calling and the Impact of Eternity

In this video and article, Richard looks at questions about calling, and discusses the following two aspects of the subject:

  1. How does eternity affect our view on our calling? Some callings (e.g. that of a parent) have eternal consequences, whereas others (e.g. a job) may only be temporal.
  2. Some callings may be consequence of factors that have been pre-assigned to us and are beyond our choosing (e.g. our parents or gender). We need to learn to be content with those things that we cannot change.
